The Harrogate Fixer was created as a way to help people in the community who need assistance with Home Repairs and Gardening work. Before I created The Harrogate Fixer I found myself spending a lot of my time repairing things for family and friends. I used to think "if only there was a way to turn this into a business"...but the thought never went much further as I was working full time back then.
I had served 12 years as an Electronics Technician in the Army and after leaving in 2023 my first job involved working in a lab as an EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) Technician. The job was very interesting from a technical sense but the work itself wasn't very appealing to me as it mostly involved sitting down at a computer and observing rather than much hands on work.
Following this I started working as an 'Electricians Mate' the work here was perfect for me as it was very hands on and technical. The guys were great to work with too. However due to the businesses financial struggles at that time I was unfortunately dismissed.
This left me in a very difficult position. At the time my car had broken down, I was just about to start paying a new mortgage and my daughter was due to be born the following month..
I knew I'd need to make some money between Employment and that's when The Harrogate Fixer was created. I thought why not combine my ability to fix things with helping the local community whilst earning some money?
The business is still very young but I look forward to seeing it grow whilst meeting some of you friendly folk and getting to help you out along the way!
